


While the Electoral Commission had announced that the 2016 Elections would start at 7am, this wasn’t the case in Entebbe Municipality and Katabi Subcounty in Busiro South as the polls delayed to start at several polling stations. At Post Office polling station in Division ‘A’, voting started at 9am because several voters had to search for their voter slips before they could commence to the polling booth.
At other polling stations voters complained about the inefficiency and slowness of the newly installed biometric voting system.
In Katabi Sub County which has 23 villages voting started at 12.30pm because there was a delay in the delivery of the ballot papers.
“We want an Explanation from the Electoral Commission because they told us that by 7am voting would start but it’s now 9am and there are no ballot papers at all the polling stations. People arrived as early as 6am at the polling stations but they have been frustrated by the Electoral Commission mess” a polling agent in the area disclosed.




However voting begun at 12.30pm after all the voting materials and ballot papers were finally delivered.
At Entebbe Comprehensive S.S polling station complaints arose after some polling agents were illegally issuing out ballot papers a responsibility met for the EC presiding officers.
Meanwhile Rose Tumusiime the NRM Flag bearer for the Entebbe Municipality Parliamentary seat has promised to support the youth through skills training to start their own jobs other than hustling for white collar office jobs which are scarce. She has also promised to revitalize the NAADS program in Entebbe Municipality to ensure that it fully benefits the people.
“The campaigns were good and the people were responsive. My biggest task will be to support the youth through youth training schemes and secondly I’ll ensure that services are delivered to the people. I’ll also ensure that Entebbe Hospital is equipped with drugs and health workers to serve the people” Rose Tumusiime told the press after casting her ballot.
Other candidates in the race include; Kakembo Michael (DP), Gitta Alex (FDC), Abubaker Walusimbi (IND), Madinah Zalwango (IND), Mubabgizi Patience (IND), Charles Kirumira (IND ), Kalle Michael (IND), Kiwanuka Archilles (IND), Baleke John (IND), Ambrose Katuntu (IND), Ssenfuma Arthur (IND), Muzoora Amon (IND).
