The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced the temporary closure of Nakiwogo -Buwaya ferry effective Monday 6th January 2025.

The closure according to the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Waiswa Bageya is intended to allow government conduct scheduled maintenance works so as to ensure continued safety and reliability.

The ferry will temporary close business for a period of three weeks and resumes operations on January 27, 2025.

The affected users include travellers and business persons who use the ferry to transport their goods from Buwaya zone to Nakiwogo and vice versa.

The works ministry has since advised ferry users to use the alternative route through road transport from Kisubi to Sisa- Nakawuka and connect via Kasenje to Buwaya.

However, the affected ferry users say the temporary closure of ferry services is likely to increase the cost of doing business saying it’s very expensive to use road transport to connect from Buwaya to Nakiwogo.
